Freudenberg Innovation Award
The “Atomistic Simulation” project received the Freudenberg Innovation Award as an excellent example of in-house innovation at the Group. The event, which is held every three years, included four other finalist projects that illustrate how intensively Freudenberg works to innovate for its customers. The projects included a modular catheter concept, a high-tech material for clothing, an environmentally friendly coating with high corrosion resistance and improvements to the industrial processes for sealing fuel cells. The award is Freudenberg’s highest internal award that honors outstanding innovation achievements by company employees.
Into the heart of a material
EagleBurgmann, Freudenberg Sealing Technologies, Klüber Lubrication, Freudenberg Technology Innovation – Atomistic Simulation
What do a car driving on a wet street, the loud creaking when a door opens, and the squeaking of train brakes have in common? Tribology plays an important role in all of them. Tribology is the study of friction, wear, and lubricants. Freudenberg does a lot of work in this area and is researching new materials, lubricants, and seals, to help reduce friction, wear, and with them the maintenance work to an absolute minimum. The approach is sustainable, particularly in sensitive industrial areas, as illustrated by a successful project for a power plant operator.
With heart and mind
Freudenberg Medical - Composer
At first glance, the approximately 20-centimeter component appearance is not all that impressive, but there are several spectacular capabilities inside. A Freudenberg Medical solution since 2017, the Composer Platform is versatile, opening new opportunities for minimally invasive interventions, e.g. treating cardiovascular disease. It also offers dynamic growth opportunities for Freudenberg Medical and helps customers reduce development times.
In the great outdoors!
Freudenberg Performance Materials -Comfortemp
The mountain calls, the forest beckons: More and more people are spending time outdoors to unwind after a hard day's work. Inclement weather such as rain, snow, and cold mean they need the right equipment to truly enjoy the hours spent. Reliable clothing is a must. Freudenberg Performance Materials has developed a special thermal insulation, which is soft, warm, breathable, and sustainable. A material that benefits both industry and consumers.
The eternally young talent is growing up
Freudenberg Sealing Technologies - Fuel Cell Stacks
Fuel cells are nothing new: The principle of producing energy through electro-chemical reactions is more than 180 years old. They have always been seen as the power source of the future. Fuel cells can efficiently generate electricity, making them an alternative to battery-powered vehicles. However, the market and infrastructure are not yet ready. But the technology is making enormous progress. New seals from Freudenberg Sealing Technologies are making sure that the environmentally friendly power source is ready for the masses.
Better from the ground up
SurTec - NefCorr
Mobility, architecture or the production of household appliances would be unthinkable without steel. However, certain grades of steel are susceptible to rust and other forms of corrosion - particularly when they come into contact with water and acid. In an innovation process spanning several countries, Freudenberg's SurTec subsidiary has developed a new zinc-iron-manganese alloy that gives steel very good protection from environmental influences and corrosion. At the same time, the material is environmentally friendly, versatile and not hazardous to health.
